Day 1 - December 4

9:00 - 10:00 kickoff keynote - FUSING FIT, FEEL AND FABRICATION

Nicoline van Enter - Founder at Footwearology

Nicoline van Enter will give a thought provoking intro lecture about the central theme of this year´s Footwearise conference: Fusing Fit, Feel and Fabrication. She will address how blurring the boundaries between medical and non-medical footwear could accelerate innovation of the footwear supply chain and how it could create new market opportunities that are often overlooked.
10:00 - 11:15 PANEL: THE DATA diggers

  • Ales Jurca - VP Footwear Research @ Volumental
  • Professor Carolyn Mair -  Founder @ Carolyn Mair Consulting

Big data is a key topic for innovation, but what data should we even collect when we are aiming to create better shoes for the consumer and how do we do that? To predict how a consumer will appreciate a certain shoe, we do not just need physical data - like measurements - but also psychological data to understand preferences for fit, aesthetics and other emotional aspects. That is why we decided to combine these two experts in what promises to be an inspiring kick off discussion!
11:15 -11:45 COFFEE BREAK
Write your awesome label here.
11:45 - 13:00 THE FIT FLEXERS

  • Satyajit Mittal - CEO Aretto
  • Diana Palin - Founder @ Foot and Ankle Institute

These two speakers are both challenging how we see sizing. Satyajit Mittal created an ingenious way to make shoes grow with kid´s feet and is now translating this idea to adult footwear as well, while Diana Palin is a world renowned podiatrist with a passionate "feet first" approach. She will present her views on optimal (custom) fit for both children´s and performance footwear. We are very proud to premiere her custom 3D printed football boots at Footwearise!
13:00 - 14:30 panel: the boundary breakers

  • Daniel Petcu - One Man Orchesta @ Pedorthic Art
  • Johnson Zhu - CEO @ iSUN3D
  • Thomas Bloomfield - Co-founder @ Fyous
  • Joost Pijnenburg - CEO @ Several existing and new companies

These speakers are all already breaking the boundaries between medical and non-medical footwear. The combination of their stories provides the answers for a holistic solution for (semi-) orthopedic footwear that can be made on demand, is fully functional and good looking, yet might not require any health insurance coverage.

Day 2 - December 5

9:00 - 09:45 panel: THE OPPOSITES

  • Adrian Hernandez - CEO @ Simplicity Works
  • Fidel Garcia - CEO @ Studio Ilana

While Adrian has one of the most advanced automated factories on the planet, Fidel runs one of the most renowned factories for the luxury industry, focusing on tradition and hand craft at the highest level. While they are on seemingly opposite sides of the spectrum, these two visionary men collaborate and have a shared vision for the future of the footwear industry, This will be one of the most thought provoking talks of the conference!
09:45 - 11:15 PANEL: THE pragmatists

  • Luis Moura - Founder @ Bioma Footwear Solutions
  • Alexander Żur - COO @ TAPI1

At Footwearise we always aim to show the latest innovations, but we are also fully aware that change comes in steps. We cannot ask existing factories to just switch to automated systems overnight. This is why we are bringing in these two experienced shoe dogs that each have a broad background in manufacturing, both in Europe and Asia, to talk about very pragmatic ways of implementing technologies step by step, including suggestions on how to prepare for the digital product passport.
11:45 - 13:00 THE ARTIFICIALS

  • Ivan Volchenskov - Co-founder @NewArc.ai
  • Neyla Coronel Vega - 3D Printing Director @ Footwearology
  • Juan José Hinojo Pérez - Research Technician @ Inescop

In this session we will approach AI from a very pragmatic point of view, showing real examples of how it can be applied to footwear manufacturing. From creating realistic virtual prototypes with AI, to using AI for translating those prototypes into actual technical patterns that can be used for manufacturing, to using 3D AI for making 3D printable shoes in minutes, without needing any 3D modeling skills.
11:15 - 11:45 coffee break
Write your awesome label here.
11:45 - 13:00 panel: THE flexers

Jinun Kang - CEO and Founder @ Lugolabs
Ignacio García - CEO @ Recreus
Martijn Fouchier - Co-founder @ Indy Digital

This panel brings the very latest in FDM printing with flexible materials. Jihun Kang will present the first commercially available 3D printer that is fully optimized for 3D printing shoes with very soft and stretchy materials. Ignacio García presents an entirely new standard for flexible filaments and Martijn Fouchier presents Indy Digital: a new print farm working with proprietary pellet printers for both the orthopaedic industry and other footwear industries.
13:00 - 14:00 PANEL: THE disruptors

  • En Jun Lin (Lynn) - Global Sales Director @ Polly Polymer
  • David Franck - Founding Engineer @ Oxman
  • James Carnes - Head of Strategy @ HILOS
  • Hannah Smith & Joost van Pelt @ Wrkshopagency

With this panel we are taking a big jump into the future, showing three of the most cutting-edge shoe factories in the world: Polly Polymer´s fully robotic DLP print farm, HILOS´s AI assisted design system and Carbon print farm and Oxman´s ground breaking system that knits and prints shoes from biopolymers in a fully automated way, custom to the wearer . Besides talking about the technologies as such, we will also talk about the commercialization of such disruptive systems. And that is why we are bringing in Hannah & Joost of Wrkshopagency, two Nike sales and marketing veterans who are now specializing in helping new sneaker brands conquer their spot in the crowded footwear market.
14:00 - 14:15 THE visonaries

  • Christian Decker - CEO @ Desma
  • Nicoline van Enter - Founder @ Footwearology

To bring all the different insights that were presented into perspective, we will end the conference with a fireside chat between Christian Decker of Desma and Nicoline van Enter of Footwearology. They will analyse what stood out most to them from all the talks and booths and how they see these developments being implemented. We will also brainstorm about the theme for the next Footwearise, involving the audience as well!

Join us on our Factory Visits from December 1-3

Maximum 10 people per day!

Real innovation needs to happen on the factory floor! That is why we have expanded the program of Footwearise with a series of factory visits, aiming to connect the many innovators that visit our event with the variety of footwear factories and research facilities in the Alicante area, in order to accelerate collaboration. Some of these factories never opened their doors to outsiders before, so we are very proud they are making an exception for us. Spots are limited, only 10 people per day, so we can have meaningful conversations.
You will be transported from the centre of Alicante by minibus and lunch is included. If you sign up for a day, you will join the full program, it is not logistically possible to adjust the schedule to individual preferences. The final schedule will be shared closer to the date, but we will probably leave around 8am from Alicante each day, since factories have early hours.
We kindly request that each individual company buys one ticket per day only, so we can give access to as many different companies as possible.
LUXURY DAY  - Monday, December 1

Experience the highest level of craft: these factories produce for the most famous luxury brands on the planet and that is why this tour requires visitors to sign an NDA to not share anything you see during the visits with third parties.

We will visit:

Thomas Bloomfield
Co-founder Fyous

Fyous makes machines that produce polymorphic (configurable) metal molds in mere minutes. These are not just suitable for molding insoles and midsoles, they will also drastically disrupt the way we make shoe lasts!

Aleksander Żur
COO TAPI-1

If you want to understand how you can upgrade your factory from traditional methods to advanced automation in a very pragmatic, strategic and resourceful way, then Aleks is the one to follow! Being the COO of one of the most advanced footwear factories in Europe, TAPI-1 in Poland, he has already walked the walk and is happy to share his experiences to help others.

Adrian Hernandez
CEO Simplicity Works

With Simplicity Works, Adrian has developed the most automated method of footwear manufacturing, replacing any stitching with molding, even for leather footwear. This is living proof that automation makes local manufacturing possible. His pilot factory is based in Alicante and already works with some of the largest global brands that usually produce in Asia. He will open his factory for a limited number of visitors during the factory tours in the days before Footwearise. You can register for those elsewhere on this page.

Fidel García
CEO Studio Ilana

You will not find Fidel on social media, nor his factory, because Studio Ilana is one of the best kept secrets of Alicante. It is the ultimate luxury shoe factory, working very discretely and with the highest level of craft for all leading luxury fashion and footwear brands. Shoes that are produced here are exported around the world to the most prime luxury retail locations. We are very proud that they are wiling to receive a limited number of visitors for Footwearise. Register for this visit elsewhere on this page.
Professor Carolyn Mair
Carolyn Mair Consulting Ltd
Whenever we think of custom made shoes, the first thought is of fit and of other things you can measure in millimetres. However, the main reasons for buying footwear are psychological, so if we want to really improve footwear, it is essential that we can include psychological data, especially in new AI-based design systems. This is why we have invited world renowned behavioural psychologist Professor Carolyn Mair. She is specialized in the field of fashion and writer of the book "The Psychology of Fashion". She also has a broad background in machine learning and computational psychology, merging the fields of consumer psychology and AI.
Daniel Petcu
Pedorthic Art
Daniel Petcu is one of the main pioneers in the orthopedic industry, developing, applying and combining parametric design systems with 3D printing to make fully functional orthopaedic shoes. His work is partially still in the research phase, and one goal of his talk is to foster collaboration and further research in this field.

Peter Davis
Vivobarefoot - Biome Lab

Peter Davis is the main authority when it comes to developing fully automated design systems for custom footwear with a strong anatomical base. Working for Vivobarefoot´s Biome lab, he has had to reinvent footwear design and development from scratch and he will share how he did that.

Diana Palin
Founder Foot & Ankle Institute

No matter how much we change the process of footwear design and manufacturing, one thing stays the same: shoes are worn on feet, so we should always start from that perspective. This is why we are very happy to have Diana Palin join us all the way from Sydney Australia. She is a highly experienced podiatrist and at her renowned Foot & Ankle Institute she has expanded her work into the field of custom 3D printed insoles and performance footwear. She will talk about what the footwear industry is missing about feet and how to change that.
Satyajit Mittal
Founder & CEO @ Aretto
What started out as a patented system for children´s shoes that can grow 3 sizes, has now expanded into a platform for innovative footwear with dynamic sizing, also for adults!
Founder & CEO Satyajit Mittal will share how the circumstance that they do not come from the footwear industry, yet have a variety of production facilities available in India, allowed them to fully rethink how shoes are made and sized. This not only enabled their shoes - and their lasts - to grow, but also the company as such.
Joost Pijnenburg
CEO @ Several existing and new companies
People in the orthopaedic shoe industry know Joost as one of the largest producers of orthopaedic shoes and PU clogs in Europe and as the only producer of orthopaedic safety shoes, with his companies Neskrid and Gerla, but that is not what he is going to talk about at Footwearise. Being one of the most forward thinking entrepreneurs in the orthopaedic field, he is foreseeing that orthopaedic shoes will not be (fully) covered by health insurance anymore in the near future and besides that, we will have a shortage of orthopaedic shoe technicians anyway. This is why he has been working on a smart, AI-driven and highly automated solution for making custom medical footwear that is available "over the counter", through ecommerce solutions.

Martijn Fouchier
Co-founder @ Indy Digital

The orthopaedic industry has the best cards to expand into personalized footwear of all kinds, since they have already solved the logistical hurdles of producing custom shoes on demand, which are new to the fashion and sport footwear industry. Now that they are also embracing digital manufacturing technologies, they are becoming very interesting manufacturing partners for all kinds of shoe brands.
Martijn is Co-founder of Indy Digital, a brand new 3D print farm based in The Netherlands that can print custom molds, insoles and entire shoes, using their proprietary 3D pellet printers. They have been operating under the radar - that is why there is no website yet - servicing orthopaedic companies, but at Footwearise they are presenting themselves to the broader footwear world for the first time.

Ales Jurca
VP Footwear Research @ Volumental

Ales Jurca, VP of Footwear Research at Volumental, has been pioneering footwear innovation with 3D foot scanning technology for over two decades. With access to the world’s largest database of 36M+ 3D foot scans linked to purchases, he delivers insights into foot shape and shoe fit; unmatched in the industry.
His landmark Nature - Scientific Reports paper has been viewed more than 100,000 times and cited in over 60 publications, establishing him as one of the most cited experts in footwear fit research. Today, his work explores toe shapes, shoe toe-box design, and advanced big-data methods that help brands design shoes that fit more people better—shaping the future of footwear comfort and performance.
Jihun Kang
CEO @ Lugolabs
We are very honored to launch the Lugolabs Flex 4 at Footwearise. This is the first filament printer that is fully specialized in 3D printing flexible and stretchy materials. It can handle 4 materials at once, both in 1.75mm and 2.85mm. In our first tests we were ale to print a full shoe in 60A filament, without any trouble and that is a first!
Founder and CEO Jihun Kang will fly in from Busan to talk about his journey and how this is a game changer for anyone who wants to run a professional print farm for footwear.
Ignacio Garcia
CEO @ Recreus
In the past years several new flexible filaments have come to the market, yet Recreus is still the only one providing ultra soft and stretchy filaments and pellets in shores 60A and 70A. Under the radar they have been doing fulltime research into how to improve printing with flex filaments and they have come up with a groundbreaking and patented solution. We cannot yet disclose what it is, but Recreus´s CEO Ignacio Garcia will come to demonstrate it and you will just have to visit Footwearise to see it!

Johnson Zhu
CEO @ iSUN3D

In this edition of Footwearise we will also pay attention to resin printing. Sister companies iSUN3D and eSUN3D are known for making 3D scanning equipment, printers for insoles and a large range of filaments, but they have also been developing a new method of resin printing that is a big step forward in terms of affordability and sustainability.
CEO Johnson Zhu will present how they are blurring the lines between the orthopaedic industry and other types of footwear by creating a system that can automatically produce resin printed shoes with custom size and support, including personalized orthotics.

En Jun Lin (Lynn)
Global Sales Director @ Polly Polymer

Polly Polymer has one of the largest print farms in China and is a lighting example of how production can be fully automated. Since they have already produced successful collections with many different brands, from Peak3D to Disney, their Global Sales Director Lynn can not just comment on the technology as such, but also on the market for 3D printed footwear. There is a lot we can learn from the Chinese domestic market when it comes to what consumers appreciate in 3D printed footwear.
David Franck
Founding Engineer @ Oxman
David Franck, founding engineer of OXMAN, is one of the main brains behind the creation of their automated production system that knits and prints shoes fully out of bio polymers - materials sourced from biology to make fully compostable footwear - right in the heart of Manhattan. And if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere... literally!
We do not know of a more advanced footwear manufacturing system than theirs, since it ticks all the boxes: it is robotic, works on demand without waste, yet with many customization options, and all material can return to nature. Not to mention the fact that these shoes are also very pleasing to the eye.
Now the challenge is to commercialize such a new and disruptive system, so this is one of the topics David will address at Footwearise.
Luis Moura
Founder @ Bioma Footwear Solutions
Luis is an expert in lean manufacturing with an impressive CV. Working as a manufacturing lead for companies such as Decathlon, he knows how to find the balance between price, margin, speed and quality like no other.
He currently runs his own consulting, Bioma footwear solutions, bringing together footwear manufacturing innovations together with potential customers. At Footwearise he will talk about which of these innovations could be applied right now and which will take longer, offering a lot of practical advice to manufacturers who want to automate but do not know where to start.

Juan José Hinojo Pérez
Research Technician @ Inescop

Juan José, one of INESCOP’s specialists in generative design for footwear, will present their pioneering integration of generative AI through an intelligent sketching system that bridges artistic vision and technical feasibility. Unlike generic AI tools, this system generates sketches precisely adapted to digital lasts and ready for CAD workflows.
Built on a custom dataset and specialized AI model, the tool produces footwear sketches aligned with design tags, types, and manufacturing constraints—empowering designers, reducing errors, and supporting more sustainable, efficient development. Integrated into ICad Evolve, INESCOP’s proprietary CAD platform, it offers a scalable and industry-ready solution for the footwear sector.

Neyla Coronel Vega
3D printing Director @ Footwearology

Neyla Coronel has a background in architecture and through a course in innovative textile design in Barcelona, she ended up at Footwearology, developing a project in compostable 3D printed textiles. Now she is leading Footwearology´s 3D printing lab in Alicante, combining her parametric design skills with her love for technology, mechanics and teaching.
At Footwearise she will present Footwearology´s own 3D AI workflow, developed in collaboration with Pixolid, that allows you to wrap AI-generated designs around a 3D last, creating a 3D-printable shoe  minutes.
Ivan Volchenskov
Co-founder @ NewArc.ai
Ivan has been present at Footwearise since the beginning, and just as the event has evolved, so has his NewArc.ai software, which is ideal for turning footwear sketches into renders in a heartbeat.
He will present the latest updates to the software and talk about how he sees the future of generative AI from a footwear perspective.
Christian Decker
CEO @ Desma
Christian has been working on the forefront of manufacturing innovation for nearly 25 years, with a special interest in automated, local, customizable and sustainable manufacturing. With Desma he is the secret force behind many footwear innovations, working way beyond the advanced injection molding technology of Desma.
He is known to be one of the most visionary voices in the industry and that is why he will close the conference, reviewing all the insights that were presented, together with Nicoline van Enter.
Joost van Pelt &
Hannah Smith
Founders @ Wrkshopagency
One of the big hurdles for companies that make a very disruptive technology - like so many of Footwearise´s participants - is how to market their innovation, so they can attract the right investors, customers and partners to implement and scale their operation. A lot of this is uncharted territory, since our current marketing systems and business models are all based upon mass production and sales from stock with extremely short delivery times. That is why we are bringing in Joost van Pelt and Hannah Smith who both worked in sales and marketing for Nike at a very high level for many years, but then escaped that bubble and learned that there are many more ways to Rome. Now they are focusing on helping both established companies and innovative sneaker startups find and conquer their ideal market. They will bring in a fresh marketing view among all the tech talk.
James Carnes
Head of Strategy @ HILOS
James Carnes is the strategic force behind HILOS, where he’s helping reengineer how footwear is created through AI-driven design and localized additive manufacturing. After leading major innovation programs at Adidas for nearly two decades—including Futurecraft, Primeknit, UltraBoost, and the brand’s first 3D-printed footwear— he now channels that expertise into accelerating product creation and unleashing new creative territory for designers and brands.
At HILOS, James is shaping Interplay, an AI-powered design system built for rapid iteration, ultra-fast speed-to-market, and on-demand production.
